Another day of F1 news is in the books and GPblog brings you the most relevant news from the paddock in its daily round-up: F1 Today.

Norris eats 5-year-long Hamilton criticism

Back in 2020, Lando Norris stirred controversy by downplaying Lewis Hamilton’s dominance, saying the then six-time world champion had it easy in a car that "should win every race." The remarks, made after the Austrian Grand Prix, painted Hamilton’s success as largely down to his equipment rather than his talent. At the time, Norris claimed to feel little about Hamilton’s wins, brushing them off with a “fair play to him” and not much more.
Fast-forward to 2025, and Norris is finding out firsthand how hard it is to deliver in a title-capable car. Following a costly crash into teammate Oscar Piastri at the Canadian GP, Norris has slipped further behind in the standings. Meanwhile, Piastri is thriving under pressure. Now, with the tables turned, Norris seems to have changed his tune. At the F1: The Movie premiere, he praised Hamilton’s seven titles and 100+ wins, admitting that even achieving one would be a dream. The respect, it seems, has finally caught up with the reality.

Briatore shares heartbreaking Schumacher health update

Flavio Briatore has shared a touching update on Michael Schumacher, whose condition remains largely unknown more than ten years after his skiing accident in Meribel. The two shared a deep connection during their time at Benetton, where Briatore oversaw Schumacher's first two world titles in 1994 and 1995. That partnership laid the foundation for the legend Schumacher would become at Ferrari, where he won five consecutive championships from 2000 to 2004.
With privacy continuing to surround Schumacher’s condition, Briatore offered a glimpse into how he chooses to remember his old friend. In a brief but emotional comment, he said: “If I close my eyes, I see him smiling after a victory. I prefer to remember him like that rather than him just lying on a bed.” He also revealed that he remains in contact with Schumacher’s wife, Corinna, who continues to protect his legacy and dignity away from the spotlight.
