Max Verstappen managed to achieve a podium place in Hungary. Second place looked like an impossible task after qualifying on Saturday and after his crash on Sunday before the race it was still unclear whether the driver of Red Bull Racing would start. Ross Brawn looks back on the performance of the Dutchman in his column on Formula1.com.
"I think Max felt huge guilt towards the team for putting them under such pressure before the race," Brawn says. "He didn't intend to disappoint them again after they fixed everything". Brawn has nice words for the Dutchman, who managed to finish between the two Mercedes drivers.

That's why Red Bull wants a fast car

"Max is just exceptional and he's done it in a way that no one would have thought. He has achieved a result that no one in the team expected, especially after the difficult weekend they had until that point". Brawn says that this makes it clear why Red Bull needs a strong car. "This kind of performance shows why Red Bull is so eager to deliver a car that he constantly drives at the front of the field".
"They know that if they can deliver that, they have a chance to attack Lewis for the championship. It's an intense season with races coming up fast. Max and Red Bull know they have to react quickly because they can't let Lewis (Hamilton) go. If they do, they know that the title is a lost cause", concludes Brawn.
