Max Verstappen immediately took the lead after the start of the race on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring, making the move into turn 1. After starting in P3, placing the Ferrari GT3 car from the Emil Frey Racing team there after qualifying, the four-time world champion got behind the wheel to start the four-hour race.
After a rolling start, the Dutchman took the momentum down into turn 1, breaking later than all his competitors to go around the outside and take the lead, stretching his lead after the first 20 minutes.

Now, with 20 minutes gone, Verstappen continues to impose himself on the race, now holding a five-second lead over the rest of the field.
After 45 minutes of racing, the 27-year-old has completed five laps of the Nordschleife, now holding an 11-second lead as he continues to show his class.
The first pit stop of the four-hour race was then taken by Verstappen, changing the tyres of his Ferrari before getting back out onto the track for the second stint, with the Dutchman still behind the wheel.
Changes were also made by rival teams, meaning Verstappen held onto his lead and made it a 23-second gap from the rest of the grid.
