Max Verstappen had to go to the stewards after Sprint Qualifying in Miami. The Dutchman now hears the verdict for the stewards.
Verstappen had two moments in SQ1, where it seemed like he impeded both Lance Stroll and Lando Norris. However, the investigation for the stewards did not take place because of that.
Indeed, that was because he exceeded the time limit between the two Safety Car lines on track. For that, the team received a reprimand by the stewards.
Allegedly, Verstappen completed his lap six second slower than the delta time, but that was because 'due to a false programming', the delta time had that exact same offset. Therefore, the team, and not Verstappen was penalised, because he did not driver "unnecessarily slowly" and did not cause any dangerous situation nor impede anyone else.
The stewards also underlined that "in different circumstances a more severe penalty might be applied for a similar infringement." See the full verdict below.
