Lowdon replaced as Cadillac announce new team principal

The Polish engineer last worked in Formula 1 as a director at Alpine, leaving at the start of 2022.

His arrival means Graeme Lowdon has been replaced in the role after an uncompetitive start to the team’s first season in F1.

Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss said in a statement: "Marcin's appointment marks another important step in the continued evolution of the Cadillac Formula 1 Team.

Budkowski added: “Cadillac Formula 1 Team has an extraordinary foundation and ambition.

Budkowski is most recognisable from his time at Alpine for the 2022 season before moving into punditry in his native Poland. Before that he began working in F1 back in 2001.

As for Lowdon, the 61-year-old Brit had become somewhat of a specialist in bringing new teams into the sport, something with Cadillac had to do starting from scratch as an 11th constructor.

He had been largely praised for Cadillac's pace difference to their competitors, but still pointless 11 rounds, Cadillac made a swap.

Just a week ago, Lowdon spoke exclusively to GPBlog about his management philosophy.

“All management's difficult at the end of the day," he said. "Managers are not paid to let the inevitable happen. We’re paid to make a difference.
