Jack Aitken announces departure from Renault

Renault test driver Jack Aitken has announced that he has left the team. He raced in Formula 2 last season, finishing fifth in the championship and had said that he is now looking forward to the next chapter.

His racing future has not been confirmed but there are still a few seats left to fill in Formula 2 so it is likely that he will race there again in 2020 and try and improve on last season's results. A number of drivers who finished above him have moved on so there could be a possibility of him genuinely competing for the title if he finds a competitive car.

Aitken played a big role in the simulator for Renault and probably feels that he has got as much as he can take from the opportunity.

“I would like to express my thanks to Renault and the Academy for helping me reach a position where I can now take a very exciting next step in my career which will keep me on course to fulfil my ambition of reaching the very top of motorsport,” Aitken said in a statement released on Monday.
