It is possible that Max Verstappen would have to tackle the Austrian Grand Prix without his race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase.
Lambiase might not be present at this year's Austrian Grand Prix, GPblog understands.
The race engineer begin working with the Dutchman when he got promoted to Red Bull Racing back in the 2016 campaign. After Lewis Hamilton left Mercedes for Ferrari and finished working with Peter Bonnington 'Bono', 'GP' and Verstappen have the longest partnership in this regard on the current F1 grid.
Since then, Lambiase has been a key figure at the Austrian squad, and has been promoted to Head of Racing.
According to Dutch medium De Telegraaf, that is because of private reasons. In the case Lambiase would not be in the defending world champion's ears, he would be replaced by Simon Rennie, who previously worked as Daniel Ricciardo's race engineer when he was at Red Bull Racing.
