Lawsuit filed against Formula 1 and Liberty Media after Las Vegas fiasco

A class action lawsuit has been filed against the Las Vegas Formula One Grand Prix as fans were forced to leave Thursday's practice session after hours of waiting. Law firm Dimopoulos Law Firm and co-counsel JK Legal & Consulting filed the lawsuit in Nevada District Court on Friday, on behalf of 35,000 fans who had bought tickets for Thursday's free practice sessions.

The defendants are Liberty Media, doing business under the name Formula One Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix, and TAB Contractors, Inc. They are accused of breach of contract, negligence and deceptive trade practices. People with tickets can apply to the law firm, which will then try to get compensation for them.

"We will vindicate the rights of the fans that travelled great distances and paid small fortunes to attend, but were deprived of the experience," Steve Dimopoulos, owner and lead lawyer of Dimopoulos Law Firm, said in a statement.

It is unknown when exactly the case will be heard. Last day, the F1 organisation announced that all fans in attendance on Thursday will receive a voucher for $200 shopping credit at a local F1 store.
