George Russell has topped the timing charts in the final practice session at the Barcelona-Catalunya GP, ahead of Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc

The Briton's lap time of 1:15.679 was enough to edge out the McLaren and Ferrari drivers ahead of Qualifying later today.

On-track action took its time to get underway, with both Cadillacs and Audi's Nico Hulkenberg the only drivers to emerge after the opening fifteen minutes.

With around 35 minutes of action to go, the first of the heavy hitters started to come out, with Norris going P1 just 0.076s ahead of Ferrari's Leclerc. The Mercedes duo of Russell and Antonelli then emerged with 30 minutes to go - the Briton going two and a half tenths up on his teammate to take top spot.

As for Lewis Hamilton, once the seven-time world champion emerged just after the halfway point, he ultimately went P5, over four tenths behind his teammate. It was also a messy final practice for championship leader Antonelli, who ended up in P7 after encountering traffic in the latter stages.

A frustrated Antonelli said on the radio: "Oh my god, mate. It's unbelievable! I'm going to box. Why do I always get traffic?! I don't understand, everyone always in the lap." The Italian will also be investigated after the session for driving erratically during the session.

A frustrating session for Red Bull, with Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar finishing P6 and P7, respectively. The Frenchman was particularly agitated in the later stages over the level of understeer he was experiencing in the RB22.

Despite the relatively quiet practice, there was a brief Red Flag to report, as Valtteri Bottas "lost" his brake pedal and went onto the gravel at Turn 10. Thankfully, the Finn was all okay, but told his race engineer he was "very lucky there."
