Antonelli's lap time of 1:07.014 was enough to edge out Piastri in the final session of the day at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.

Although not quite as frantic as FP1, the second session's start saw an early VSC due to Sergio Perez stopping on track. Cadillac had reported changes to Perez's ECU moments prior, with the Mexican having already brought out the Red Flag in FP1 due to a loss of power- Cadillac since confirmed a repeat of that earlier practice issue.

Albeit after a disrupted first 20 minutes, McLaren duo Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were setting the pace, before Mercedes' Antonelli and Russell entered the conversation. The latter took his time to get out for FP2, although suffered no major issues.

Halfway through, it was Antonelli on top by around three and a half tenths on Norris, with Russell sat P4 behind the McLaren pairing. Meanwhile, Cadillac's woes continued as a smoky Valtteri Bottas entered the pits, the Finn's floor dragging against the ground, and the American team having to bring out the fire extinguishers.

The McLarens and Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton came back at Antonelli on the soft tyres with nearly 20 minutes to go, but the young Italian quickly regained top spot with a 1:07.249, later improved upon by two tenths.

In fourth came Verstappen, who suffered issues with his seat in FP2, he was ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Russell in P5 and P6, respectively.

Isack Hadjar and Charles Leclerc made up seventh and eighth, while the top ten at FP1 was rounded up by Liam Lawson and Gabriel Bortoleto.
