Always wanted to know what training as a Formula 1 driver looks like? Carlos Sainz explains it to you in detail in his latest YouTube video. He answers questions from his fans in both English and Spanish (with subtitles).

Two sessions a day, at least five times a week

Sainz reveals that normally, in a week without Formula 1 races, he trains twice a day. "I always try to do two sessions a day. The first one I do very early in the morning, before breakfast. This is normally a cardio. I like either doing a swim or a run."
In the evening, the Ferrari driver embarks on a second session. In that session everything revolves around strength lets Sainz know. The reason why the Spaniard does the second session in the evening is because he feels that his body is 'more switched on'. He doesn't take many rest days. "I would rest one, maximum two days a week," he says.

Few pizzas and hamburgers

Formula One drivers are often on a fairly strict diet in addition to training heavily. In recent years, F1 has changed the rules so that a little more should be possible in terms of food, but an outing at a fast food restaurant is not in the cards anytime soon. Sainz admits that this is what he finds most difficult as an F1 driver.
