Before the 2025 season is set to start, the FIA has made several changes to the sporting regulations. According to Autosport, one of the changes will be featured at six races this season.
The changes in question are to Article 15.1 of the 2025 Sporting Regulations. The article states, “From among holders of an FIA Super License the following officials will be nominated by the FIA:
A) A minimum of three (3) and a maximum of four (4) stewards, one of whom will be appointed chairman.
B) A Race Director
C) A Permanent Starter

According to Autosport, only six of the 24 races will feature four stewards with the other 18 having only three. The six races are listed: Australia, China, Canada, Singapore, Mexico and Brazil.
The conversation surrounding stewards has been a hot topic recently with many team principals and CEOs speaking out against how the panel is set up. McLaren’s Zak Brown being one of them. As of right now, the Stewards work on an unpaid voluntary basis.
Another hot topic has been the removal of Johnny Herbert as a steward. Despite Herbert being confirmed as a FIA steward for the Australia race (one of the six races rumoured to have four stewards), he was shortly released from his duties afterwards.
