That Mercedes reserve driver Mick Schumacher might go to Alpine next year to drive with that team in the World Endurance Championship is well known, but the latest rumour says that former Mercedes technical director Mike Elliott is also going to the team.
Former F1 driver and F1 analyst Franck Montagny told French Canal+. The team led by Toto Wolff announced after the Mexico GP that CTO Elliott will leave the team. Montagny states the Brit will move to Alpine, or at least that is what the Frenchman suspects.

Package deal between Mercedes and Alpine?

Elliott would then join Schumacher, the Mercedes reserve driver, in Alpine's WEC project. Renault's racing team will make their debut in that class in 2024. Schumacher previously tested the team's LMDh car. So, with Elliott also rumoured to be heading to that team, a package deal between the two teams could potentially be imminent.
Montagny reported: "We know that Wolff is very, very keen to put Schumacher in a car, we know that he could potentially race in WEC for Alpine, and they’re in the middle of recruiting at Alpine." What the former F1 driver says remains only conjecture: "I’ve got a feeling that there’s going to be a little deal between the two teams. I’d hazard a little guess, so I’d bet a little money on the arrival of Elliott at Alpine with Schumacher."
