Xavi Martos, former personal trainer to Sergio Perez, made a discovery during a Spanish-language podcast: is this a sign that Checo might not be done with racing after all?
Pérez had to leave Formula 1 at the end of 2024, after Red Bull Racing showed him the door. The Mexican had earlier in the season signed a contract extension with the Austrian team, but it was precisely this contract extension that eventually cost him his seat.
The new contract included a new exit clause, allowing Red Bull to ultimately sideline him. The manager who assisted him with this deal has now been replaced, Martos reported.
"There is something that people I think have not noticed. I noticed it as a viewer, but people have never talked about it," Martos said cryptically in the Duralavita podcast.
"Checo has a new manager - I have no idea if you have read it. He had Julien [Jakobi, ed.] now he has someone else."

'New manager a sign that Perez wants to keep driving'

Martos explained that Jakobi was a good manager, and therefore wonders why Pérez has taken a new manager in fact. In addition, Pérez also appointed Khalil Beschir, a good friend of his. A telling fact, he emphasized.
"If you wanted to stop driving, you would not hire a new manager. At least, I would not think that," continued Martos, who therefore seems convinced that Pérez's career will continue.
GPblog earlier this month already reported that the chance of Sergio Pérez returning to the grid with Cadillac in 2026 is becoming increasingly small. It is therefore very possible that Pérez will have to find his way in a different class.
