Toto Wolff believes the FIA has made great strides in its organisation since last December. The Austrian stressed in an interview with Motorsport.com that it has shown this season that it is transparent and dares to tackle problems.
At the end of last race year, the FIA decided to replace Michael Masi. Niels Wittich and Eduardo Freitas were instructed to emerge as race directors. According to Wolff, both men have more than succeeded in doing so this season.
"In December, new people came on board and I believe that as long as there is progress and openness, things will keep getting better," he says in the interview. In doing so, the team boss says he fully understands that mistakes are made everywhere, but that it is important to learn from them.

Wolff sees FIA taking step

The latter part is something Wolff sees quite a bit back at the FIA in 2022. "In my conversations with the president, I notice the eagerness to learn and analyse," he said. The team boss cites the Gasly incident at the Japanese Grand Prix as an example, where it launched an investigation and released an FIA document. Wolff also saw the FIA looking critically at itself in the document.
