Lewis Hamilton would demand no less than forty million dollars as annual income in negotiations with Mercedes. The Daily Mail said this earlier, but Toto Wolff denies this and even calls it nonsense.
''All the things that are being written or said at the moment about the salary requirement or that we would only like to pay half, that's all made up. We haven't discussed for a moment what kind of money should be on the table, so it's sheer nonsense'', says Wolff to Motorsport.com.

That Lewis would not want to conform to the current corona situation, according to Wolff, is therefore not justified. ''Lewis is just dealing with what's going on. In addition, we also have a lot of respect for his performance in Formula 1, so we will certainly come to an amount that is satisfactory for both parties.''
Romain Grosjean spoke earlier about the enormous amount of money Hamilton receives each year and called that unacceptable. Wolff himself would be in favour of a salary ceiling. ''We certainly support that. But it has to be done gradually, because otherwise you'll lose your superstars right now'', concludes the team boss of Mercedes.
