It is not often that Toto Wolff and Christian Horner are on the same page. However, where recent criticism of the lack of spectacle at Formula 1 races is concerned, the two bantams are in complete agreement.
After the Azerbaijan GP, critical voices were heard here and there about the race, which lacked the action the average F1 viewer is used to these days. During Friday's press conference in Miami, Horner and AlphaTauri team boss Franz Tost indicated that nowadays not every Grand Prix can be a spectacle, and Wolff fully agrees.

Wolff agrees with Horner

"This sport is a bit… We tend to be manic, manic depressive from exuberance to depression. When things are going well, then it's great. And then we have a race that's not so great. And obviously, then we talk about it. Many things are being taken out of context to create headlines," states the Mercedes team boss.
He continued: "And I think we just need to see whether we have a pattern that continues, whether overtaking is more difficult or not. Are 20 cars in a second, is that the right thing to do, to have or not? And are we creating too much downforce through the floor? All that for me hasn't got the right answer. So we need to find a baseline over the next few races, see whether there's something which we can improve."

As for shortening the DRS zone in Baku and Miami, among others, Wolff also agrees with the opinion of his rival at Red Bull Racing. "Like Christian said, the 100m DRS could have made a big difference. We shall see," Wolff concluded.
