Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff can be satisfied after his drivers' performance. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell recorded the fourth and fifth fastest times, but they start from third and fourth due to a grid penalty for Nico Hulkenberg, pleasing Wolff as he told a Mercedes press release.
"Today was a good result for the Team. The margins were very small between most of the field, and you could see that in Q2 with Perez and Leclerc being knocked out. I think we can therefore be satisfied with getting two cars through to Q3," the Austrian told us.

Mercedes in battle with Red Bull Racing

In the battle for the constructors' championship, Mercedes are in second place. Behind Red Bull Racing, the team of Wolff, Russell and Hamilton have scored 152 points. With Stroll not driving hugely consistently in the points, Mercedes have an 18-point lead over Aston Martin.
Wolff is not resigned to a possible podium finish for now, as he wants more than that. "Realistically, we will be aiming for the podium with both cars tomorrow. We will give everything to challenge for more, but we will see on Sunday," he concluded.
