The news of the imminent brith of his first child with girlfriend Kelly Piquet has taken the F1 world by storm, so, exciting times for the Dutchman. However, should the baby indeed come this weekend, could Verstappen drop everything and leave the Miami Grand Prix? Because the
Miami Grand Prix is a Sprint weekend, Verstappen could delay his traveling arrangements no longer, since Sprint qualifying, the first relevant session of the weekend, is already scheduled for Friday afternoon. Had it been a traditional Grand Prix Weekend, the Dutchman could have postponed his trip for another day, in time to get in the car y FP3 on Saturday morning.
What can Verstappen do should his child be born during the Miami Grand Prix weekend?
There are, at the moment, no reasons to believe Verstappen could depart in the midst of the
Miami Grand Prix weekend to return to Monaco if the baby was to be born at any point across the next three days.
Verstappen himself stated he would have no paternity leave and should the baby be born during a race weekend, he would simply have to race. Red Bull's chief advisor has also stated as much.
Nevertheless, following the race on Sunday, Verstappen is expected to leave as soon as he can to be with girlfriend Piquet and quite possibly his new born child.
