Max Verstappen won the French Grand Prix by a large margin after Charles Leclerc eliminated himself. However, Formula 1 viewers around the world were more impressed by the fine performance of Carlos Sainz, who came back from the back of the grid to finish fifth. What do the readers of GPblog think about that?

So the main prize went to Verstappen, the symbolic prize to Sainz. Meanwhile, the Mercedes drivers also scored highly by scoring a double podium, despite the fact that the W13 still lacks speed. Fernando Alonso also drove his Alpine to a fine sixth place, while teammate Esteban Ocon managed to move up from tenth to eighth place.
Both McLaren drivers also put in a good race. Lando Norris could not hold on to his great fifth starting position, but still managed to score good points with a seventh finishing position. Daniel Ricciardo was able to hold on to P9 and finished in that position, so there were points in it for the Australian. However, there is also something to be said for Lance Stroll, who came out on top in an intense duel with teammate Sebastian Vettel to secure the final point.
