Daniel Ricciardo’s trademark victory celebration is a big thing in the world of F1 now. It has even been registered as an official brand of F1 by Liberty Media. One thing we don’t consider whilst watching a shoey is where the shoes go afterwards?
It turns out that sometimes the person who drinks from Ricciardo’s sweaty race boot gets to keep it!
Red Bull told the official F1 website: “Sometimes, the victim who drinks from it on the podium will keep it as a souvenir.
“Other times, it will go to charity.”
Every F1 driver re-uses their race suits and other equipment, but you will be pleased to hear that Ricciardo does not use his shoey shoes twice!

Ricciardo explained where the shoey came from in 2016: “It was a few loose Aussies, from what I say, the Mad Hueys, they’re surfies and fisherman.
“They travel the world fishing surfing and whatever and they like to drink a bit of beer – and that’s where the shoey began."
