In recent years the Formula 1 title has been decided way before the season decider in Abu Dhabi with Mercedes dominating over the last five years but Mark Webber is optimistic the title will go all the way to the end.
Lewis Hamilton has won four of the last five world titles and won his most recent in 2018 sealing the championship at the Mexican Grand Prix. Nico Rosberg has been the only man to halt Hamilton’s run when he won his only World Championship in 2016 at the final race in Abu Dhabi.
Webber has experience of dramatic finishes having been involved in a really tense finish in 2010 and he’s hopeful for more drama.
“The amended regulations aim to better deal with an opponent,” said Webber in an interview on Speedweek.
“The cars should be more predictable in the swirling air of the front man.
“The signs are encouraging.
“That's just one of the reasons why I'm looking forward to the coming season, I also think we are facing a magnificent championship match, hopefully to the very end,” the Australian added, who finished third on three occasions.
