Sebastian Vettel got his Championship campaign back on track yesterday as he regained the lead in the drivers' championship. Vettel smashed the race and now leads Hamilton by a point.
He crowned the day as “special” as he lifted the 1st place trophy in the air alongside Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen. The Ferrari car had faced plenty of grief in the last few weeks. But it was Mercedes that missed out in Montreal.
“This win is very important for our - team, today is a special day,” said race winner Sebastian Vettel.
“At the start, I tried to build up a margin, I was happy with my first lap, and then the safety car came out and I had to start over again.
“During my last 10 laps, I prayed that my car would not develop a problem until the end! Points are always important, but today this win means a lot and not just in terms of Championship.”

It was Ferrari’s first race with their upgraded package whilst Mercedes had to delay theirs due to reliability issues. The Silver Arrows package is expected to arrive in France.
“The season is still so long and there are many races ahead. The main thing is that our car is strong and stays like that so that we can fight,” added the German.
