Sebastian Vettel will compete in his 200th Grand Prix this weekend in Bahrain.
Making his debut 11 years ago at the United States Grand Prix, Vettel is now one of the most experienced drivers the sport has seen. Winning four World titles along the way, the Ferrari driver still denies age it becoming a limiting factor.
“Nowadays, at 30 years old, you already are a more experienced driver,” said Vettel.
“To me - you’re not too old as long as you’re quick enough.”
Out of his 199 races so far, the German has won 48 times giving him an impressive 24% win percentage. Looking back at his first race for BMW-Sauber, he was focused despite the late call-up.
“The whole thing came as a bit of a surprise to me.
“I didn’t have a lot of time to prepare as [Robert] Kubica’s accident had just happened the week before
“But from what I remember I was ready and very focused.”
Completing his interview in the Bahrain Grand Prix program, he added a quote of inspiration for new drivers in the sport.
“I believe the most important thing is that you enjoy what you do and never think too far ahead.”
