Lando Norris has finished at the top of the times in FP2 for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Andrea Kimi Antonelli followed in P2 and Charles Leclerc in P3. As the session got underway all the drivers who took to the track did so on medium compound tyres.
Max Verstappen seemed to struggle during the session, keeping him from replicating the superior form Red Bull had showed throughout the first practice.
Lando Norris took some time to leave the garage and with around twenty minutes ticked away already, the British McLaren driver emerged from his box to take over the timing sheets.
Red Bull's troubles were made evident by Yuki Tsunoda's poor showing, seven places behind Verstappen, who had managed to move up from P8 to P5.
Norris revives, Leclerc confirms pace
Charles Leclerc then confirmed Ferrari's blistering Las Vegas pace by taking over from Lando Norris. Moments later the qualifying simulations began with Liam Lawson shooting up to P2. A place the New Zealander wouldn't hold for long, as teammate Isack Hadjar went even faster.
Norris retook the top place in the order as George Russell put his name among the long list of drivers who'd gotten the car sideways throughout the first day of on-track action in Las Vegas. His teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli, though, moved up to P2 close to the British McLaren driver, trailing him by 0.029s.
At around the 20 minute mark a red flag neutralised the session due to a loose manhole cover, the trigger for several woes the first edition of the Las Vegas Grand Prix endured. However, this time the issue was quickly resolved and the track was reopened shortly.
