Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Japan and China. In all these Grands Prix in 2024, Max Verstappen started in pole position. This makes the triple-world champion the first driver in the 21st century to secure pole position for the first five qualifying sessions in a season.
The last driver in Formula 1 to pull this off was Mika Hakkinen. The Finnish two-time world champion did so in 1999. Another special milestone Verstappen managed to achieve for his team was the 100th pole position for Red Bull. He managed to answer all the questions the media had for him about his new record.
"I'm really not good at this trivia, but I just got it from the FIA upstairs as well. So that's why [I know]," Verstappen laughed in front of the camera of Viaplay. "I'm honest though, normally I'm not so good at it." Incidentally, he also managed to answer another bit of trivia correctly: who took the first pole position for Red Bull Racing, at the same circuit where Verstappen secured his 100th for the team? The answer: Sebastian Vettel.
