Max Verstappen can call himself a worthy Formula 1 World Champion. In some races his Red Bull Racing car was superior to the Mercedes, but that was certainly not the case everywhere. The champion himself mentions Zandvoort as an example.

France and Zandvoort won partly on tactics

The United States Grand Prix was a race where Mercedes were clearly faster, but where Red Bull, combined with Verstappen, were so on top of the strategy that they won the race. According to the Dutchman, there are more examples of wins where tactics played a big role, including his home race.
"Zandvoort in a way as well. We were actively watching what Mercedes were doing, because they were simply faster there", he explains in conversation with Olav Mol at Ziggo Sport. "There are a lot of races where you had to be sharp and make the right decisions, France for example."
