Max Verstappen was unhappy with the defensive work of Oscar Piastri. The McLaren driver braked hard during the yellow flag, causing Verstappen to nearly lose the front wing of the Red Bull Racing car.

Verstappen expresses frustration toward Piastri

The yellow flag was waved due to the crash of Pierre Gasly, who collided with the Formula 1 car of Yuki Tsunoda. In this incident, the Alpine driver lost part of his front wing. In the sector where the yellow was in effect, Piastri then slowed down. This helped Lando Norris, who was leading, to increase the gap, but Verstappen was less pleased with the action.
"He would have taken my front wing off. He totally froze. What a shock. We would have crashed; I had the right to be there. See it again, mate," the Dutchman grumbled over the team radio to his engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase. Overtaking is not allowed during a yellow flag, and so Verstappen also had to brake where Piastri did. Verstappen's team-mate Tsunoda was in turn not pleased with Gasly's action, who crashed into him. “Is he an idiot?” the Japanese wondered aloud.
