Max Verstappen landed in Salzburg about an hour ago with his private jet. Although Red Bull Racing has a facility in the Austrian city next to their headquarters in Milton Keynes, this does not seem to be the reason for the Dutchman's trip.
A special event is being held at Salzburg airport today. At the airport, there is Hangar-7, a venue that was frequently used for exhibitions, including Formula 1 cars. This venue, which belongs to Red Bull, will be reopened next week. About 1500 guests have been invited for this, including Verstappen and Kelly Piquet.
The opening will be conducted by Mark Mateschitz, the son of Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz. Besides a delightful meal provided by the two-star restaurant Ikarus, there will also be various exhibitions to see. Among other events, a race will be held over the runway in front of the hangar with several motorsport stars. Whether Verstappen himself will participate in this event is unknown.
