Max Verstappen blames his lack of pace at
Silverstone on the Red Bull car missing 70-80 horsepower. The Red Bull boys qualified in 5th and 6th place for tomorrow's
British Grand Prix.
Verstappen finished 0.7 seconds behind British pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton. Team-mate Daniel Ricciardo experienced DRS issues pushing him further behind.
On a track like Silverstone, it's bound to throw up limitations for the Red Bull car. Verstappen spoke after qualifying to explain his dips in performance.
"If you miss 70-80bhp you know you're going to struggle," Verstappen told Autosport.
"Also with the cars we have [since the 2017 regulation changes] a few corners became flat-out, so it gets more and more difficult. A big problem as well is when you go through a corner that's almost flat and when you accelerate out of the corner our engine is just not pulling."
The Austrian Grand Prix winner started the race last weekend from the same position. Damon Hill stated he will need some luck in the race, such as further tyre blistering to stand a chance.
Conditions are expected to be warm during the race tomorrow similar to last weekend.
