Verstappen clear for his team: 'They know that too'

Max Verstappen has been the absolute leader at Red Bull Racing this season. The Dutchman showed several times during the race year that he has considerable power within his team and emphasizes this once again in conversation with Ziggo Sport.

In his early days in Formula 1, Verstappen had to get used to his new team, but in recent years he has earned the respect of his teammates. This season he proved himself once again by competing for the world title until the end of the season. It made his team accept business from him even quicker.

For the Red Bull driver this is more than logical, he told in an interview with Olav Mol. "In the end, if I want to go in, then I go in," says Verstappen. "Then I just say, 'Now we're going to pit.' If I feel that the tyres are finished, then they are finished. And they know that too. Because sometimes they think: Yeah, we can do another lap."

Working with the team in Abu Dhabi was a decisive choice. After Nicholas Latifi's crash, Verstappen went in to put the red tyre on his car and passed Lewis Hamilton on the last lap of the race.
