Lewis Hamilton's blistering lap of 1:30.849 earned him pole position for the sprint race on Saturday, however, ever the 'pessimistic', Frederic Vasseur, doesn't get carried away by the positive energy this result brings and looks ahead to the points-giving short race.
With McLaren setting the pace in FP1 by half a second, it was forcasted that either Lando Norris or Oscar Piastri would start the sprint race in P1. What happened to the papaya cars, Vasseur knows not as he stated in conversation with Sky Sports. "It's better than last week but difficult to read and understand from one session to the other one."

"Sometimes McLaren had a huge gap, sometimes not so. Let's analyse it," added the Ferrari team principal. Looking ahead to tomorrow, however, he argues that the job is not yet done, regardless of what this result may mean to the team. "We have a lot of work to do. For sure it's a good feeling and gives a positive energy to the team and Lewis, but I always see the negative side!"
"We can score a lot of points this weekend with the Sprint [format]. The fact Lewis was in front in SQ1 and SQ3, is also a proof of consistency and this is good," concluded Vasseur.
