Yuki Tsunoda has called for harsh penalties on the McLaren pair of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri after receiving a grid drop.
At the end of the Canadian Grand Prix, Lando Norris ran into the back of his teammate Oscar Piastri. After the race, Yuki Tsunoda said to his race engineer: "Yeah I mean, especially if I got a penalty yesterday with that stupid red flag. They should get a penalty this time.”

The Japanese driver called for penalties against Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri after receiving a ten-place grid drop for overtaking Piastri under red flag conditions during FP3. At the time, the Australian's McLaren was damaged and moving very slowly on track, a detail that left Tsunoda clearly frustrated with the penalty handed to him.
Tsunoda's race engineer responded: “Totally agree. I totally agree." On which the Red Bull Racing driver joked: “So, yeah, I think we’re going to be P5 then.” Tsunoda ultimately finished twelfth in Montréal.

Lando Norris failed to finish the race due to his crash in the closing stages of the Grand Prix with his teammate. The McLaren pair collided for the first time in 2025, but only Lando Norris retired from the race. The Brit also avoided any penalty points on his super licence. Piastri, meanwhile, emerged entirely unscathed from the incident and continued on to a fourth-place finish. Mercedes driver George Russell won the race, with Max Verstappen in second and Kimi Antonelli in third.
