Yuki Tsunoda previously answered questions from
GPBlog about his ambitions of getting promoted to Red Bull, but
Christian Horner and
Helmut Marko - the duo who ultimately decide from the Red Bull family drivers for which team - do not think he is good enough to climb up the ladder.
Meanwhile, Tsunoda did make his debut for the Austrians. Not in a Grand Prix, but in Taiwan, driving the RB8, as he stepped in for a showrun in Taichung, which attracted many thousands of fans.
For now, it also seems to be the last time Tsunoda drove a car with a
Red Bull Racing livery. For next
F1 season, the Japanese driver has a commitment with VCARB. Should Red Bull decide to sideline
Sergio Perez after this year,
Liam Lawson would be the first candidate to get promoted. The New Zealander will make his return to VCARB from the US Grand Prix, replacing the sidelined
Daniel Ricciardo. Unfortunately for the driver, his session had to end early, as the RB8's engine caught fire.
