Just one Honda car made it into Q3 on Saturday's Australian Grand Prix qualifying, but Honda's Toyoharu Tanabe is pleased with the performances. The lower results weren't caused by engine problems.
“The fourth place for Max Verstappen and therefore the second starting row is a great start for our collaboration with Red Bull. Unfortunately, Pierre Gasly ran into some problems in Q1 and was therefore unable to participate in the other sessions," Toyoharu Tanabe said.
"At Toro Rosso, we saw the potential of the STR14, but unfortunately the qualification there was not as expected due to heavy traffic. Tomorrow's race will take a long time, and we hope that we can achieve good results with both Red Bull and Toro Rosso."
The teams are much closer to each other than in recent seasons, and with overtaking tricky around Albert Park, the first few laps will be vital if Torro Rosso or Red Bull is to get double top 10 results.
