The Monaco Grand Prix marks the second leg of the 2025 European triple-header, and in recent years, the iconic street race has delivered a mix of sun-soaked sessions and dramatic rain-affected moments. Here’s how this upcoming weekend in Monte Carlo is looking...
After a sunny weekend in Emilia-Romagna, Formula 1 moves onto one of the most infamous tracks of the year round the tight streets of Monaco. The race will be followed by the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona which will conclude the triple-header.
Max Verstappen will be eager to carry his winning momentum from Imola into the challenging streets of Monaco as the championship battle heats up. Meanwhile, McLaren will be keen to bite back, aiming to end their long wait for a Monaco victory — their last coming in 2008 when Lewis Hamilton overcame two punctures and wet weather to claim the top step of the podium.

Potential rain could cause chaos during qualifying

The action gets underway on Friday, with both free practices expected to have dry conditions with an average temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. Friday is expected to be mostly sunny with comfortable temperatures but gusty winds of up to 24 km/h could arise, adding a challenging element for the drivers on the tight street circuit.
During FP1 and FP2 the temperature should stay dry at around 19 degrees Celsius with more clouds coming in for the second session.
However, Saturday is where chaos could ensue. FP3 is expected to stay sunny with an average temperature of 18 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, there is a 15 percent chance of rain rain of around 2mm to be expected between 2-6pm (CET), qualifying takes place at 4pm (3pm BST). Though a small chance, it is possible that light showers could throw a spanner in the works in a race where qualifying has been seen to be the deciding factor in the last few years.
