Oscar Piastri has delivered a chilling message to the rest of the grid – and to teammate Lando Norris in particular – as he grows in confidence in his pursuit of a maiden Formula 1 World Championship. The
McLaren driver has been widely praised for his speed, composure and killer instincts, and now the Australian has made it clear he has no intention of slowing down.
“I have a lot of confidence in myself that I can do it,” Piastri told media ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
“Not every weekend has been perfect, but there’s not many weekends in my whole life that have been perfect.
"Just trying to put together a solid, consistent year is ultimately going to be important.
"The pace in the last few weekends, especially Spa, I’ve been very confident in and very proud of."
Piastri eyes title push with McLaren momentum
Piastri, who has consistently matched Norris across the 2025 season, says he is ready to sustain his title challenge through the remaining rounds.
"I’m more than capable of continuing that for the rest of the year,” he added.
“I’m confident that I can do it, but it’s not going to be easy."
Consistency has been Norris' Achilles' heel throughout his F1 career, something that has impacted his current title bid in a negative way, costing him many-a points against an unforgiving rival, such as teammate Piastri.
With McLaren leading the Constructors’ standings and
both drivers in the thick of the title fight, Piastri’s insistence on maintaining his form could prove decisive in the months ahead.
