This weekend marks the sixth race of the season with the Miami Grand Prix on the schedule. It’s one of three Grands Prix held in the United States and a relatively new addition to the calendar, first introduced in 2022. Max Verstappen will be aiming for his second win of the year as the Dutchman dominates the records at this circuit.
Although the Miami Grand Prix is only being held for the fourth time, Max Verstappen already holds the record for most wins at the circuit, having claimed victory twice. The four-time world champion currently tops the list, but Lando Norris has the chance to match his record if he takes his second win on this track.
Another record up for grabs is the fastest lap at the Miami Grand Prix. Max Verstappen set the benchmark in 2022 with a lap time of 1:31.361, which remains the fastest ever recorded on the American circuit.

Verstappen may also sharpen sprint record

Verstappen will also be aiming to extend his record number of sprint race victories. Since the format was introduced, he has claimed 11 wins—by far the most of any driver. The next closest are Oscar Piastri and Valtteri Bottas, each with just two sprint victories.

The Miami Grand Prix will be the 80th time in history that Formula 1 will race in the United States, making it the country which has hosted the second most Grands Prix ever behind Italy.
Championship leader Oscar Piastri could equal the third-highest finishing streak in the history of the sport on 34 races. The Australian has crossed the line in every race since the Mexican Grand Prix in 2023.

An opportunity for Hamilton

The Miami International Autodrome is one of three tracks on the 2025 calendar where Lewis Hamilton has never won a race. If the Brit wins in Miami, he will extend his record of races won at different tracks to 32 races. It would also make it the 60th season in which Ferrari has won a Grand Prix.
