Susie Wolff is one of the biggest female names in motorsport. Five years ago Wolff became the sixth woman to be involved in a Formula One Grand Prix. She has now switched paths and is team principal of Formula E team Venturi.
Much has been made of the fact that she is leading the way for women but Wolff just sees herself as doing her job.
“I’m actually just doing the job that I love,” she told City A.M. “I’m not doing it because I want to lead the way for other women. But I know for myself from being a young girl that role models are important, and if I can pave the way to show what’s possible I think that’s really positive.”
“Formula E has been very supportive in helping us promote diversity and give an opportunity to women,” says Wolff. “In the end, it’s never down to one person or organization, it’s about doing something to create change and it is supported as a whole. It’s not going to happen overnight, but what’s most important is that we are doing something.”
Motorsport is doing well to promote equality within the sport but will hope to do more in the future.
