Lewis Hamilton did not win the world title this year, but he did win another honorary title. Some time ago it was announced that the Englishman would be knighted. In London, it finally happened.

During a ceremony at Windsor, Castle Hamilton was knighted by the Prince of Wales. The driver had taken his mother to the inauguration ceremony. After Charles knighted Hamilton, Hamilton said the beautiful words: 'Thank you.'

Of course, the British media had turned out en masse to witness the historic moment. They all hoped that Hamilton would speak to them afterwards. After all, the Mercedes driver did not speak to the media after the Abu Dhabi race, except for that one moment directly after the finish in front of the Formula 1 camera. Pending the protests - Mercedes already indicated - Hamilton would avoid the media.

It remains to be seen how Hamilton will react tomorrow during the annual FIA gala. There Max Verstappen will receive the trophy that goes with the world title. Hamilton will be honoured as number two.
