Charles Leclerc has received the FIA stewards’ verdict following his infringement after retiring from the second practice session of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The
Scuderia Ferrari driver had been summoned by the stewards after he was found in breach of Article 26.5 of the sporting regulations.
Specifically, Leclerc failed to replace his steering wheel and turn off the Energy Recovery System (ERS) following the abrupt conclusion of his FP2 outing.
However, following a review of the incident, the stewards have decided that no further action will be taken against the Monegasque driver.

In their assessment of the incident, the stewards ruled that Leclerc left the car in gear when he abandoned it due to a transmission problem and appeared to leave the car in a power-on state.
Further buttressing their ruling, the stewards stated that the driver explained that, prior to stepping out of the car, he tried to put it in neutral but could not. He then switched off the car before leaving it.
Leclerc’s FP2 outing ends in chaos
Leclerc witnessed his FP2 session end in an uncharacteristic manner. The 28-year-old,
who lit up the timing sheets during the first session on Friday, was quick enough for second place.
However, any hopes of him producing a consecutive dominant outing on the first day of on-track action were disrupted by a late red flag caused by a manhole at Turn 17.
The
Ferrari driver’s hopes of further improvement, following the resolution of the issue, were further hampered by the gearbox incident he suffered during his final run under the Vegas lights.
