Seville to build third largest circuit in Spain: Competition for Barcelona?

Spain will add a new circuit in 2024. In the city of Carmona, located in Seville, the third-largest circuit in the country will be built.

The track will be 4.5 kilometres long with a maximum gradient of 4.92%. The track will consist of ten right turns and six left turns. The straight is 773 metres long. With these features, the circuit will be the third-largest in Spain, behind Motorland and Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the circuit that hosts the current Spanish Grand Prix.

Soymotor.com reports that the regional government has given the green light for the Seville circuit. Former drivers David Garcia and father Nono Garcia are the entrepreneurs of the project. The circuit is planned to be operational by 2024. Five million euros have already been invested in the project and the land has been bought.

The Spanish Grand Prix has had competition for some time, namely from Madrid. The capital would like a spot on the Formula 1 calendar, but it does not yet have a circuit ready to meet the requirements. The race in Spain has been staged at the Barcelona circuit since 1991. With the arrival of the Seville circuit, Barcelona may have another competitor.
