Hope for a career in Formula 1 is gone for Giuliano Alesi, the son of former Formula 1 driver Jean Alesi. He has been expelled from the Ferrari Academy and doesn't seem to have any other options.
While the sons of Jos Verstappen and Michael Schumacher are very successful, this is not the case for the son of Jean Alesi. The 21 year old Giuliano Alesi is currently driving for the MP Motorsport team in Formula 2, where he switched to during the season from BWT HWA Racelab.
"We don't have any sponsors for 2021 and Ferrari has fired him from the academy," Jean Alesi told the Swiss newspaper Blick.
"I've sold my own Ferrari F40, but I can't raise the money myself anymore."
So where did Giuliano go wrong? "We gambled wrong by choosing BWT HWA. We paid over a million euros for that, but they didn't keep their promises. When we switched to MP Motorsport, HWA demanded another 80,000 euros from us."
