Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher has warned Christian Horner after Max Verstappen took part in a GT3 test around the Nürburgring, touted as "incredibly dangerous".
The Dutchman was testing in a GT3 car around the iconic German track last weekend, but he did not do this under his own name, using the pseudonym Franz Hermann instead.
It is no secret that Verstappen is a fan of driving in GT3 cars, with the 27-year-old busy with his own team participating in GT classes. He also revealed last winter that he had talked with Aston Martin about a collaboration with his team in GT3.
Timo Glock, another former F1 driver, was also present at the German circuit, and while on the Boxengasse podcast from Sky Sports Germany, the German discussed Verstappen's test day together with Schumacher.

Glock impressed after Verstappen's test

Glock's WhatsApp was already full of messages before Verstappen went on track, and according to the German, the Red Bull Racing driver did incredibly well.
"In the end, he gave it all. From the information I have, he was already at a top level in the first or second round," the 43-year-old said.
"He committed. He spent a lot of time on the simulator. That shows how well you can adjust to such a round. And it also shows Max Verstappen's talent again. That's not a question anymore. A round of 7:53, that's a top time, to be able to do that in your second round," continued Glock.

Schumacher warns Horner after Verstappen's test

Schumacher was then asked whether Verstappen's test made him doubt whether the Dutchman would take a sabbatical year.
"I can hardly imagine that. I think he wants to race this season too, with the new regulations," was the German's response.
However, Schumacher finds Verstappen's test remarkable: "If I had been his team boss, I would have asked him to stay home. To do something like this at the Nordschleife, that's not so favourable. I know a lot of people will not be happy with me, but I just find the Nordschleife incredibly dangerous. And then to think that DTM was formerly banned there, because it was just too fast. And now the GT3 cars are insanely fast," concluded Schumacher.
