Over the Canadian Grand Prix, Nico Rosberg said he offered Lando Norris to mentor him, but the Briton is yet to answer. According to Ralf Schumacher, that is for the better.
In the Backstage Boxengasse podcast of Sky Sports Germany, Schumacher began to question the 2016 world champion.
“Nico Rosberg is a peculiar personality. He sees odd things. I mean, if he says in a podcast that my brother stayed in the toilet extra long to somehow weaken him mentally before qualifying in Monaco... He could have just said: ‘Okay, he was just the better driver in Monaco’. It seems to still bother him today.”
Schumacher not a fan of the idea of Rosberg as Norris' mentor
“I also find it annoying to keep coming back to this,” Schumacher stated.
“So congratulations, he became world champion. But I think someone like Lando Norris just needs peace and doesn't need this kind of advice," he began to explain why it would be better for the British driver not to collaborate with Rosberg.
"Because the more it comes from the outside, the more the media does, the more it affects you and I think he knows best himself and then he should also discuss with his family how he can possibly get help from the outside. Sometimes it's enough if a good friend comes along, who distracts him in the evening and they do things together that he enjoys.”
For now, the McLaren driver is yet to respond to the former Mercedes driver's offer. Norris is currently second in the drivers' standings, and he is now 22 points behind his teammate Oscar Piastri, after they made contact at the Canadian Grand Prix.
