For Lando Norris, the Canadian Grand Prix ended with disappointment. Former McLaren driver Jenson Button expects him to bounce back as the Woking-based team's drivers fight for the world title.
On Lap 67, on the start-finish straight, Lando Norris ran into the back of Oscar Piastri, causing him to DNF at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The British driver also immediately apologised to his team afterwards, and looks forward to building on the positives.
Former McLaren driver and 2009 world champion Jenson Button understands a battle for the title will be like this. "I like that we have the inter-team fight because this is the fight for the World Championship. It's nice that they're going hard. They're going to make mistakes," he told Sky Sports at the F1 movie premiere.
The Briton also sees that this could turn out to be a 'now or never' year for both drivers, given there will be a 'reset' in 2026.
"This is a moment in time for them that they've got to grab the bull by the horns, because you don't know when the next one's going to come or if it'll ever come with the regulation change. So they're both fighting hard for this World Championship."

Button sees Norris bouncing back mentally

Button as a McLaren driver also crashed the same way with Lewis Hamilton back in the 2011 season in Canada.
"Yes, it was a mistake by Lando, but it happens. Lewis and myself crashed into each other 14 years ago on the same straight. So it happens."
He therefore expects Norris to bounce back after this result. "This is the moment when we see whether Lando is in a good mental place and whether he can come out the other side of this strong. I think he is. I think he's turned a corner, excuse the pun, but I think he really has in terms of being confident in his ability and putting it all that there."
As a result, Norris is currently 22 points behind Piastri in the drivers' standings.
