Carlos Sainz has expressed his satisfaction with being the fourth fastest car on the grid, following a very satisfying result for the McLaren team which saw both cars finish inside points at the French Grand Prix.
Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris finished sixth and tenth respectively with Norris dropping from seventh to P10 on the final lap of the race after he was hampered by a hydraulic issue. Sainz meanwhile was able to climb from seventh in qualifying to finish P6 in a very pleasing result for the team as they established themselves as the front runners for best of the rest this season.
Sainz admitted after the race that the step the team have made is especially pleasing and it is exactly what he asked for following the Monaco Grand Prix.
"It's very good news, because for the first time in the year, we were the fourth fastest car in qualifying and race, it's a big step, that's what I asked after Monaco, when we put ourselves in the World Cup," Sainz told Movistar.
"We had to be the fourth fastest car and that has been fulfilled, which means that we are going forward, in the right direction."
