It seems like every driver with a licence is within a shout for a seat at Toro Rosso next season, but according to French newspaper L'Equipe, former Sauber driver Pascal Wehrlein now has the best chance for a seat at the team.
Toro Rosso have two seats available for next season, with Pierre Gasly getting promoted to Red Bull and Brendon Hartley likely not getting an extension of his current deal, which expires at the end of the year. Even though the Kiwi has been very unlucky, he hasn't impressed much either when his car did stay in one piece.
Daniil Kvyat has reportedly already signed for Toro Rosso, despite the team not having confirmed the Russian yet. That would leave one spot at the Italian-based development team.
L'Equipe report that Wehrlein, a former Sauber driver who was recently cut from the Mercedes programme, will make his return to F1, a year after losing his seat at Sauber, where he scored all five points for the team in 2017.
