Earlier in the week, Adrian Newey came out and said Ricciardo will get some sort of a penalty for this weekends Grand Prix. But now the Australian has told reporters he will not receive a penalty unless something goes wrong in the build-up to Sunday.
The Red Bull had engine issues in Monaco, and Ricciardo drove the last 50 laps with a hampered engine. He went on to win the race. Reports asked if he’d be getting a penalty as a result of this.
“Currently no, so no, the answer is no,” said Ricciardo.
“If something happens in practice, and we are forced to change something, then I will get a penalty. But for now, we will still have enough parts to run."
Daniel Ricciardo went on to confirm that it is this circuit which he wouldn’t like to take a penalty on because of the circuit layout.

“This is such a difficult circuit for overtaking, and having such good momentum at the moment, I think a penalty would take a bit of win out of our sails,” added the Australian.
“If we can escape this weekend without it, then I’d rather take it somewhere else.”
