Missing out on Q2 and losing his front wing before turn one were probably not on Daniel Ricciardo’s list of things he wanted to achieve at his home race, but the Aussie is staying smiley for now!
Ricciardo put a wheel on the grass on the run in to turn one, hitting a gutter and violently ripping his front wing off, sending him immediately to the back of the field.
He retired later in the race. “I’m going to smile because it’s way too early to be disappointed,” he told Ziggo Sport after the race. “The car is alright, Nico got seventh, I think we can be consistently a points car and keep building.”
